SkanSure – Food Scanner

Scan it before you eat it.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 15, 2026.

This page explains what information SkanSure handles, in plain language. SkanSure is designed to work without collecting personal information.

No account, no sign-up

SkanSure has no account and no sign-up. The app works without collecting personal information.

What stays on your device

Your allergen profile, scan history, and saved foods are stored only on your device, in your browser storage. They are never sent to us.

If you clear your browser storage, that information is deleted from your device. We do not have a copy of it.

What leaves your device when you scan

When you scan a barcode, the barcode number is sent to Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org) to look up the product. That is the only data that leaves your device during a scan, and it contains nothing about you.

If the product is already in the on-device cache, no request is made.

No analytics or trackers

SkanSure uses no analytics, no advertising trackers, and no cookies for tracking.

Report a wrong result

“Report a wrong result” is an optional form hosted by Formspree. If you use it, you choose what to type. It may include the barcode and product name so we can check the record.

Please don’t include personal information in it.

Product data and attribution

Product data comes from Open Food Facts, contributed by Open Food Facts contributors, under the Open Database License (ODbL). Product images are CC BY-SA.

We never sell user data

User data is never sold. Ever.

If you have questions about this policy, please use the support/contact route on skansure.com.

In short: no account, your profile and history stay on your device, and the only thing sent during a scan is the barcode number to Open Food Facts.
